About Mark Giesbrecht

Mark has been providing Counselling Based Services since 1995. He holds a Masters Degree in Counselling and memberships with both the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors since 2001. Mark has recently joined the Association of Counselling Therapists of Alberta that is expected to become the new Alberta College of Counselling Therapists sometime in fall 2020 or Spring 2021.

Mark has been married for over 25 years and is the father of three adult children.

Although Mark is qualified to provide help with the variety of problems that cause people to seek out a Psychotherapist, he has had specific training and experience in the areas of:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Dialectial Bebavioural Therapy
  • Sexual Addiction
  • Eating Disorders
  • EMDR and Somatic Experiencing
  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Mark is currently practicing online and phone-based psychotherapy. In the past Mark has worked for many community agencies, with Alcohol & Drug Treatment Centers, Family Therapy Centers, Problem Gambling Assistance and has worked with adolescents and children in psychiatry inpatient care. Mark also has extensive experience working with special needs and with behaviourally challenged children and adolescents.

Mark enjoys working with a variety of counselling issues. He reports that counselling and psychotherapy are an invigorating and rewarding occupation.
